Gluten-Free Apple Crisp Recipe

This recipe was an all-time favorite baklava recipe when we used to do monthly specials back in 2023. This filling can be used for both store-bought regular phyllo or by using our gluten-free phyllo cups

Recipe makes about 12 cups

Oat topping:
- Add one cup of old fashioned oats into a bowl
- Add 4 tbs of room temp unsalted butter
- Add 4 tbs of unpacked brown sugar
- Mix thoroughly until the mixture holds together
- Place in the freezer while you work on the apple filling

Caramelized apple filling:
- In a sauce pan, add 2 finely cubed apples (without the skin)
- Add 2 tbs of fresh lemon juice
- Add 7 tbs of unpacked brown sugar
- Add 3 tbs of unsalted butter
- Add 1/4 tsp salt
- Add 1 tsp of cinnamon
- Cook with a lid at low-medium heat for 20 minutes
- Remove lid and cook until water is drained and apples are caramelized (about 10 minutes). If it’s not getting caramelized, add additional brown sugar and make sure apples pieces are small. Remove from the heat as soon as caramelized to avoid sugar from hardening.
- Chop one cup of pecans and add to caramelized apple filling

Assembling:
- Grab Oea gluten-free phyllo cups. Press gently at the center if puffy
- Add apple filling
- Add oat topping
- Bake for 20-30 minutes at 350 F or until crispy
- Drizzle honey once taken out of the oven

If there is extra fillings, place in a sealed container and store in the freezer.
