OUR STORY

STARTED FROM A DORM

Nour is originally from Libya and she informally founded Oea Bakery from her college dorm room in July 2019. When she first started selling baklava, it was meant to be a temporary endeavor. She sold it to friends via social media and eventually at the local Michigan farmer's market.

At the time she made a shift from a career in medicine to business, and was in need of starting capital to enroll in business courses and invest in another start up company.

A YEAR OF FAILED EXPERIMENTS

Nour moved back to Denver, where her family lives, exactly a week before the pandemic.

She continued to experiment with other business ideas in the beauty and home decor industries.

All of those endeavors did not work out for their own reasons, however, she was still occasionally selling baklava on the side to fund those business ideas.

When demand for our Libyan baklava grew and grew in 2020, that is when Nour had an "aha" moment.

It was at the end of the year, the idea of "Oea Bakery" came about.

OEA BAKERY IS BORN

Nour and her mom, Nahla, decided to team up and make this thing an official business in February 2021!

It was a year of forming roots for the business - having our own commercial kitchen, running advertisement campaigns, and hiring our first ever employee (what?!)

THE YEAR AHEAD

GROWING WITH YOU

We're so grateful for all of the support you've shown the past few years. Honestly, I don't think this business would have been possible without all of the support from friends, family, and you, the Oea Fam.

For 2022, our goal is to take all of the feedback you've given us to serve you with the best piece of Libyan baklava.

We hope we get a chance to enrich your special moments in 2022, and thank you as always for giving us the opportunity to share our rich, Libyan culture through this heavenly dessert. 💛
